Why The Heck Should I Meditate?

Meditation, it’s not what you think.

My first response from people when I say that teach mediation is, “oh I can’t do that. I just can’t shut off my brain.” I’m here to tell you - the world never wants you to shut off your brain. But how cool would it feel if you could just slow the roll a little bit?

The whole purpose of meditation was to allow you space. Space to connect with yourself, your thoughts, your Higher Power, your intuition, your breath. Now in history, it was used by many as a path to enlightenment and it comes surrounded with a lot of narrative in this department. And it’s valid and spiritual and deep and so on. BUT, meditation is for EVERYONE. And honestly what you get from practicing it- IS ALL YOURS. It doesn’t have to fit in a magic box of spiritual ideals. (I’m sure there will be many more blogs in the future of us breaking barriers together.)

So, why should you meditate?

Because it’s SO FREAKING GOOD for your mental health. And your physical health. And your spiritual health.

Here’s a quick list of the “basic benefits”: (according to the Mayo Clinic)

  • Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations

  • Building skills to manage your stress

  • Increasing self-awareness

  • Focusing on the present

  • Reducing negative emotions

  • Increasing imagination and creativity

  • Increasing patience and tolerance

  • Lowering resting heart rate

  • Lowering resting blood pressure

  • Improving sleep quality

Any of those resonate with you?

I can speak from my personal experience that meditation can be a tool that changes your life. I was searching for something to help me with emotions, mental health, and ways to connect in with myself. I am grateful that I found meditation.

Now, I am on-fire to share it with everyone. So let’s connect and get you started!
